The fertile agricultural land of the North Okanagan is known for dairy products, fruits and vegetables. Rich grasslands brought ranchers to a valley where agricultural traditions still thrive while nearby mountains beckon outdoor enthusiasts summer and winter. The region also features numerous lakes, including Okanagan, Kalamalka and Swan, providing opportunities for summer recreation, while Silver Star Mountain is ideal for mountain biking and winter sports. To the east, the Monashee Mountains present pristine wildnerness for backcountry adventure. Communities and hamlets in the North Okanagan include Armstrong, Cherryville, Coldstream, Enderby, Grindrod, Killiney Beach, Lavington, Lumby, Mabel Lake, Spallumcheen and Vernon.
