Redesigned TOTA News Centre Provides Quick Access to Tourism News

June 13, 2012 at 10:32 AM

TOTA has announced that it is now presenting its online News Centre in a redesigned format, giving tourism stakeholders, media, government officials, community leaders, organization officials and others quick access to the latest tourism news from around the Thompson Okanagan.

News_Centre_page-FEATURE.jpgOn June 13 TOTA unveiled the new look for the News Centre, which is a key part of the organization's goal to make its entire website a valuable Online Resource Centre for stakeholders, visitors, travel media, tour operators and others – providing ready access to a large and growing set of resources about the tourism industry in the Thompson Okanagan region.

The News Centre includes a large and growing number of stories and photos covering initiatives undertaken by tourism stakeholders, TOTA, Tourism BC and others relating to tourism destinations, new developments, marketing opportunities, community development resources, travel media coverage, and major issues in the tourism industry.

The main News Centre page displays top stories, a feature story, and headline links to a number of the latest stories seven categories: TOTA News, Marketing News, Regional News, Community Development News, Tourism Industry News, Media Coverage, and TOTA Press Releases. It also includes spots for advertising banners from TOTA or stakeholders.

Each individual story page has a sidebar which lists other recent stories in that News category. It also contains a 'Back to the News Centre' link button as well as 'Share' links to online channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Gmail, Bloggy, Digg, StumbleUpon, WordPress, as well as a 'Print' function and many other services.

The News Centre will be updated regularly with new stories about tourism developments and issues from around the region. Brief email alerts will be sent to all tourism stakeholders in the Thompson Okanagan region on a semi-monthly basis, providing the headlines of some of the most recently posted tourism news stories and links giving recipients access directly into the News Centre.

The News Centre is searchable by a number of keywords, such as tourism sector, community name, people's names, and others. TOTA welcomes feedback about the online News Centre.
