Five minutes off the Trans Canada Highway #1 through Gold Country’s dramatic sage-covered ‘northern desert’ brings you to the tranquil, refreshing setting of Ashcroft. With the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the late 1800s, Ashcroft became Mile "0" on the road to the goldfields, and the major freight depot for all supplies heading north.
To take a trip back in time may we suggest a visit to the historical and informative Ashcroft Museum to learn a little about our rich past. The Historic Walking Tour will take you to the heritage sites downtown including Heritage Park’s “Walk Through Time” and the Copper Mining History display.
As the gateway to the Cariboo and north, Ashcroft serves as a centre providing amenities to both residents and travelers alike. Ashcroft offers comfortable accommodations ranging from quaint bed & breakfasts to fabulous guest ranches and a full service RV park right in town.
For the outdoors enthusiast, there are a variety of activities in and around Ashcroft including hiking, dirt biking, snowmobiling, fishing, soccer, mountain biking, horseback riding, river rafting and more.
The Village is alive with a vital arts and cultural community. Perfect for avid recreational enthusiasts a place that you visit once and dream of visiting again. Do something different. Do something out of the ordinary. Stay and play in the North Thompson Valley - the perfect place to get back to nature and unwind.
