BC Resource Road Access Survey

The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC is currently running a survey to ask users to share information about resource roads that are important for recreational purposes.

Resource roads provide important access to trails, lakes, rivers, cabins, recreation sites, backcountry areas, rural communities, and outdoor tourism destinations across BC.

Right now, no government agency is specifically responsible for keeping resource roads open for recreation. Not every resource road has the same role for recreation, and some roads may need to be managed carefully to protect wildlife, cultural values, sensitive ecosystems, public safety and other important interests.

That is why ORCBC is part of a group of provincial recreation organizations that has launched the BC Resource Road Access Survey.

The survey will help identify which resource roads and road systems matter most for outdoor recreation access across the province, including roads that are:

  • currently used to reach recreation areas;

  • at risk of closure or deactivation; or

  • already closed, restricted, or difficult to access.
