The Stakeholder Model
Since April 1, 2009, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has been operating under the “Stakeholder” model — no longer requiring paid membership.
The intent of the Stakeholder Model is for TOTA to embrace all tourism industry participants in the region by considering them as stakeholders, without a requirement to pay membership fees. By removing the fee structure the association will accomplish two significant goals:
TOTA will be able to fully represent the breadth of tourism product available in the region to the consumer, and
Participation in the co-op programs with Destination BC will be available to all qualified industry partners (tourism businesses & operators) in the region. Programs include a variety of co-operative marketing and advertising opportunities throughout the year including consumer shows; print advertising, online, radio, and television campaigns.
Stakeholder Qualification
In order to qualify as a TOTA Stakeholder and to be eligible for programs, you and/or your business MUST be involved in a direct tourism activity (i.e. tourists represent a substantial client base) or indirect tourism activity (i.e. supports or benefits from tourism activities) within the Thompson Okanagan region AND meet one or more of the following criteria.
